Customs lines: check the classification, not the shopping group

Use the product mix below to prepare questions for the agent. Only the actual tariff classification can determine the number of taxable categories.

Plan the product categories in your parcel

Select the categories you intend to buy. This produces a shopping checklist, not HS codes, declaration lines or a customs bill. Two garments in the same shopping group may have different tariff subheadings.

Tick the categories you intend to pack together.

Save the materials, purpose and price of each product, then ask the agent how the goods should be described. The broad group names below are only a way to keep your shortlist organised.

What the EU rule actually counts

The temporary duty introduced on 1 July 2026 uses tariff subheadings, not the category names on a shopping website. The Council’s example distinguishes silk and wool blouses even though both would sit in this guide’s apparel group.

A confirmed classification is needed before applying any per-category amount. Destination rules, VAT and carrier charges must also be checked separately. Read the Council’s explanation, reviewed 11 October 2026.

LoongBuy help states that duty depends on declared value, product category, parcel details and local regulations

    Declare the goods accurately

Use accurate product descriptions and values supported by your order records. A suggested declaration from an agent is not a guarantee of acceptance or tax exemption. Ask for clarification if the description does not match the item.

Keep invoices and payment records. Customs can ask for evidence, and a shipping route’s label does not replace the destination’s rules.

Compare the whole parcel before splitting

Splitting a parcel does not automatically reduce duty. It may repeat freight minimums, handling charges and the same tariff categories across several parcels. Compare accepted items, size limits, cover and the complete costs of the available options.

    Questions before you submit

Do several apparel items always share one tariff category?

No. Material, construction and the type of garment can lead to different subheadings. Our apparel group cannot answer that question.

Does choosing a lower value guarantee no tax?

No. Use the actual supported value and check destination requirements. The result is assessed outside this guide.

Who can confirm the declaration details?

Ask the agent about the submitted description and route, and consult the destination’s customs guidance for classification and assessment. Find the right support channel.
